About

Due to the rapidly growing demand of physical therapy in the veterinary field, we have worked hard to design and develop a physical rehabilitation program for our community

About Companion Animal Rehabilitation

Physical rehabilitation for dogs and cats is equivalent to physiotherapy for humans. When we have an injury or a chronic musculoskeletal problem, we seek out care from physiotherapists who use various techniques to minimize pain and recruit the appropriate muscles so that we can get back to our regular lifestyle and try to prevent further injuries.  That's exactly what we are here to do with your pet!

Our mission

At Rehab at Laurelwood we aim to treat every patient holistically, designing customized rehabilitation programs that address specific diagnoses, manage pain, and treat secondary musculoskeletal concerns while empowering owners to best support their pet’s recovery.

Dr. Leah graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2015 and in 2016 completed her training to become a Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee. In 2019 she also became certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy through the Veterinary Chiropractic Learning Centre. Dr. Leah has always had a passion for holistic veterinary care and animal behaviour. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, and training her border collie in various dog sports including agility and dock diving.

Ellen Kosumovic-Wildfang, RVT, CCAT

Ellen graduated from Northern College in 2018 as a registered veterinary technician, and completed her training as a Certified Companion Animal Rehabilitation Therapist (CCAT) through University of North Carolina in 2025. Ellen has always had an interest in rehabilitation after having her own dog struggle with intervertebral disc disease. In 2020 when Dr. Leah was just starting the rehab program at Laurelwood, Ellen asked to help with one of the regulars, and she’s been hooked ever since! In her spare time Ellen enjoys being active, whether it is in the gym or hiking with her dog, and when she has a moment to sit she loves to paint (she’s a fantastic artist!).
